Hey Anna! I’d love some recos for sandals, I love your pairs from this weeks ‘what I wore this week’ work well with everything but they’re a little out of my price range. I’d be looking to spend £200 max. I have Birkenstocks but I’ve worn them so much now and I don’t feel like they elevate my outfits enough for what I’m looking for. Thanks so much 🙏

Hi Monique!

Thanks so much for your question! I feel like the brand you're after is A.EMERY - I just *adore* their sandal selection - https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/designer/a-emery. Within your budget too! I like Ancient Greek Sandals as well, but they tend to be quite thin and unpadded on the sole! Hope this helps xx

Toddler mom here. I could really use a bag that holds me and my toddler’s necessities when we’re on the go/running errands. Preferably one that doesn’t look frumpy or mom-like and fits 2 water bottles. I see all these moms carrying canvas bags or huge leather shoppers and I refuse to accept the fact that those are the only 2 options 😅

Hi Maria!!

Oh I LOVE this question and it's one that I feel you on! I use my big Sezane basket bag the most when I'm out with Ralph. But here are some other options for you:

- The larger Dragon Diffusion bags could work for this and would be fab when you're out sans toddler too.

- https://www.arket.com/en_gbp/homeware/living-room/product.jute-tote-bag-black.1220922001.html This feels like a good tote/proper bag hybrid and nice and roomy too.

- https://www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/bags/product.curved-suede-bag-beige.1206878001.html I like that you could wear this one cross-body and still have both hands free!

I hope this helps! x

+1 on knit waistcoats that are light enough for summer and cut so that it’s possible to wear on their own (without a top underneath)

Hi Natalia,

Thanks so much for your question! I feel like I need to do a bigger post on this as this question comes up a lot. BUT, in the meantime I feel like this is one of the best dupes I've found - https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/pretty-lavishkourtney-v-neck-knitted-cardigan_R04309700/?previewSize=M&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjws560BhCuARIsAHMqE0GonqMWO-SgLgE_xbhVy19l5jVXZgBb8_jfCnuShte6vhlO7prfNXMaAgeaEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#colour=TAUPE. Hey! Would love some options for how to style my new longline waistcoats/vests when the temperature dips - a shorter jacket / a longer layer / a layer the same length??! Basically don't want the longline vest etc to end up looking like an apron under the outer layer! Thanks :-) x

Hi Natasha,

Oooooh great question! In a weird way I kinda like the apron look - https://open.substack.com/chat/posts/5d0b870d-7074-4ff1-a0d3-5db9c0030520. Hear me out!! But I totally see where you're coming from. Personally I'd go for longer - the same length can all start to feel a bit flappy if you know what I mean. If you have a lighter weight trench hanging around I'd throw that on over the top.

Hope that helps! x

Hi Anna!

Two queries if I may! Firstly, I’m looking for some tan loafers in suede or leather. Everything seems to be very boxy and clunky and I would like something timeless and elegant.

Secondly, I have a wedding to attend in July and I would love to get a very simple, one colour, dress for it, not too expensive, that I can reuse as a regular summer dress.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Beth,

Thanks so much for your questions!! For loafers I feel like these from Sézane feel timeless and sleek - https://www.sezane.com/en/product/andre-loafers/natural-heritage-leather#size-2. Then for a wedding guest dress this post has a tonne - https://theannaedit.substack.com/p/the-ultimate-wedding-guest-style. I feel like the dresses in the first photo could work for you - just something silky in a slip style feels so chic! I hope this helps xx

Hi Anna, two questions this time)) I’m looking for the perfect white summer dress. One that could be work to an office and styled with a black blazer. But also worn casually. Preferably cotton and cotton linen blend, not see through and midi length.

Also, I’m really struggling with oversized button down shirts. I love them, love buying them and then have hard time styling them. If I leave them untucked they are too long and I’m drowning in them. When I tuck them there’s just too much fabric tucked and it’s uncomfortable. Help please)

Hi Sheyda,

Thanks so much for your questions! For a white summer dress I LOVE this one - https://www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/dresses/product.cap-sleeve-dress-beige.1220419001.html. I can't comment on the sheerness and it might be a little long, but you could get it taken up? It feels very Toteme-esque!

Then in terms of your shirts - I feel you!! I get this too! One trick I've learnt from the Tibi girls is to make a ponytail at the back of your shirt. So take a chunk of the fabric at the back, then roll it into a long piece that you can tuck into the back of your trousers. I just takes some of the bulk out of it and hopefully you won't feel like you're drowing so much!

I hope this helps! x

Hi Mary! I'm going to do a post on this!! Are you looking for like a classic white t-shirt, or something more of a top than a t-shirt? Will put together something for you soon x

Hi Anna! Just some tops that are a step up from a tee, for every day looks? For some reason, lots of women can throw on a tank (that’s not basic jersey) and instantly look elevated. Why these tanks can’t be made with sleeves appears to be a mystery! I love the ease and comfort of a tee, but yes, often feel too basic.

Maybe even short sleeve tops? Although I find these can make me feel too bulky and masculine. But hopefully there are some out there for women with broad shoulders!

I’m looking for the same thing! I’ll be in Paris for two weeks in December. So I’m looking for a winter boot that’s comfy to walk all around the city in yet still be stylish. I’m in a similar price bracket with a little wiggle room to go higher for the right pair!

A second request: how/what to pack for longer summer trips. I'm going to Greece for three weeks and am already stressing - how do I pack for comfort, style, and heat without bringing half my wardrobe? I'm especially worried about long, sweaty days, and feeling like I can't rewear things, because, well, #sweat. Any hacks for either packing, OR great products finds to help clothes feel fresh/clean when you have to rewear them a few times?

That is SUCH a good question! I feel like the best way to tackle it is to succumb to the fact that you're probably going to have to do a wash or two whilst you're out there! Laundry services at hotels can be pricey, but whenever I've used them they have been super speedy! I always take a mini washing detergent with me on longer trips and I'm thinking of buying this too - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Clothesline-Adjustable-Retractable-Windproof/dp/B0B38W6Y5T/ref=asc_df_B0B38W6Y5T/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697230299730&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12374038389049317061&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9189888&hvtargid=pla-1719733279899&psc=1&mcid=e102b7807ce63fa09ff4585428c43edd&gad_source=1. Hi Anna, sorry not a style question but I would love to know where your very chic terracotta soap tray in the kitchen is from. All of the kitchen accessories are beautiful.

Also a plug for the non-t-shirts summer tops that I think you have lined up? Struggling to find something easy, cool, flattering and not a waistcoat at the moment! Thank you

I live in NYC, and I LOVE sandals but the idea of walking around in thin soled sandals with my feet so exposed grosses me out! I am not a Birkenstock fan, but would love some recommendations for thicker-soled flat sandals that still feel light and summery but don't make me feel like I'm practically barefoot on the filthy streets. I have a great investment pair from Celine (Tippi Slide in calfskin), but they are a little heavy and I would like other options that aren't as pricey.

Great question - and LOVE that Celine style. I feel like these from Dear Frances are in a similar vein - https://uk.dearfrances.com/collections/all-styles/products/tye-slide-black, or perhaps a fisherman sandal could work - https://uk.dearfrances.com/collections/all-styles/products/theo-sandal-black? I hear amazing things about this sandal brand too - https://hereustudio.com/collections/sandals-shoes. A good option for sandals that feel more like full shoes if you know what I mean? x

Hi Anna!!! I just recently became a subscriber because i love your style and am so unhappy with my wardrobe. Hi Anna I was wondering if you could recommend some shoes to wear this summer when it’s a bit cooler outside and raining. I love wearing sandals in the summer but my style has changed recently. I’ve found that I don’t love wearing trainers as much as I used to. I’ve noticed that this has left a bit of a hole in my wardrobe as I don’t know what I could replace the trainers with. Id ideally like them to still be comfy like a trainer but not have such a sporty look. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! Xx

Hi Sheridan,

Thanks so much for your question! I had this exact conundrum today! I'm the same - I just don't love to wear trainers these days. For cooler days when it's raining, I find a leather loafer to work best - something a bit like this - https://uk.flattered.com/products/bon-bon-beige-grained-leather. More water-tight and less likely to get ruined than a suede loafer!

I hope this helps! x

Hi Anna!

I am in the midst of finding my personal style, basically just sold a huge part of my wardrobe and now I am actually so excited to go out and invest in really good things (for which I finally have a vision now!) BUT I recently decided to leave my current job, have a little break and then for my new job I have to buy a car etc.

So what I am saying is how can I enjoy the process until September without basically spending any money on clothes? Because I feel like my wardrobe does not represent me anymore in any way and a *little* shopping would actually help.

Hi Anika,

Thank you so much for your question and congrats on the new job!! So exciting!! My top recommendation would be to get your head into planning mode instead - DISTRACTION!! September isn't too far away and you can squirrel away this summer on moodboards and wishlists and get excited about organising what clothing you do have that you love instead. Perhaps try and make yourself seven uniforms you love to see you through the summer - https://theannaedit.substack.com/p/the-easy-way-to-make-sure-you-always?

I hope this helps! xx
