just got here through a repost -- would love to know if there's a post around wearing comfy clothes for WFH in COLD weather that aren't tight around the waist (i've been gaining weight and don't wanna stress about it -- i just wanna be happy and feel good).
Love this. And thank you for making me feel better about taking my time and not doing it all at once. I feel like I do stage one in my head - mentally thinking about what I want to get rid of. It is so hard to find big blocks of time so giving more time and space over a month is so much more doable.
So many good tips in here! But I would love to know (and it may be a bit niche) - how did you manage your clothes postpartum - figuring out what fitted and when, what you no longer felt comfortable wearing or was no longer appropriate. And if you're holding onto clothes during postpartum, how long to hold onto them for? All so tricky to navigate!
Oh Amy - I feel you! I would say it’s taken me a good two years for my body to balance out to my new ‘normal’, but that’s a really long time to hold onto things for and my style and needs changed so much in that time. In that time I got rid of A LOT in my wardrobe and have really only held on to the absolute investment buys that I still loved. Anything I wore during pregnancy I donated because I was sick of looking at it 😂 and I’d say around 9 months PP I did a bigger purge of stuff as I started to work out my new style and knew there were things that didn’t fit or feel like me anymore. Gosh I feel that was a ramble and not super helpful but good luck! X
Wow, thank you so much for these tips! I have purged my closet a few times but have not approached organizing it and replenishing it based on the categories of clothes I'm actually wearing. I just renamed my Pinterest board sections to keep this in mind.
I decluttered a few months ago but I don't think I was ruthless enough. I'm still finding items I rarely wear. This was a good reminder to go through this process again. You've also inspired me to start using Whering to help find new outfits. Thanks for sharing!
What an amazing post! I did 2 big closet purges in 2023, and truly feel like I have *more* great options-- solely from the renewed space & clarity in my closet!
Absolutely love this post Anna, as I really need to streamline my wardrobe even more. I have finally found my style and want to build upon it slowly and only have pieces I love to wear. Especially those for working from home. 🫣😅
This is insanely helpful, I’ve read a bunch of articles and “tutorials” about cleaning up your wardrobe and this is by far the most effective one, you take into account so many thing but kept it simple and easy to follow along at the same time!! Thank you Anna!!
My husband bought me two cashmere sweaters for Christmas that I don’t like, but I live in frigid Wisconsin so justify keeping them for at home loungewear. It feels like such a waste of space in my closet but I know he would freak if I got rid of them after two months. At 47 though I’m so desperately wanting to do a real clean out and finally determine my style.
Excellent advice. I've recently felt like I don't know how to dress anymore...so I figured I'd 'start again' by creating an (almost) 'blank' canvas. I purged my wardrobe and donated 10 large 'sacks' of clothes and accessories. Some of it I probably should have tried to sell as there was some some lovely designer and vintage 1980s/90s original pieces in there (my era), but I figured the charity shops could use it all more :) I still have a whole rail of coats and jackets to sell on Vinted (or similar). One question Anna - clothes rails. I have tried many different types over the years (IKEA, Cox and Cox, Homebase, Habitat, Argos..), but they all (eventually) bend, collapse or otherwise deteriorate. Hence I am looking for some properly sturdy, new ones for my dressing room. Please let us know where you bought yours - and also those hangers and hanging clothes bags. Thank you :)

Thanks so much for visiting here Marissa! Will add this to my to-write list! x
The brilliance of categorizing your day!! So smart! I often think we all need a reminder of what our days ACTUALLY look like as far as dressing.
Honestly, it's helped me soooooo much! x
I thought so too. Must give it a try.
