I talk about it enough, so regulars would have heard me bleat on about my trouser-wearing ways many times before. But if you’re new, hi! I’m Anna, and as someone who has been riddled with psoriasis for the best part of 20 years, I don’t love getting my legs out in the summer. Which is not ideal as the sun is most likely what my dry and flaky limbs need! But alas, if you see me in the corner sweating in jeans, mind your business 💅 I feel that perhaps the ‘I wear trousers all summer’ club has a membership of more than one, so if my hunch is correct, then this could be the post for you. Here’s how I make them work without melting into a puddle on the floor…
JEANS ON THE BOTTOM + AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE ON TOP. Look, if you are going to wear jeans, the best thing to do is to pair them with something as teenie tiny as possible on top. This Toteme Tank* fits that bill exactly, and with some little stick-on nipple covers underneath, we are GOOD TO GO. A denim style that doesn’t sit too close to the body is a good shout for the summer, too, and I just think AGOLDE does this style so well (with their baggier styles, I’d recommend trying out one size down and two sizes down to see which fit you prefer). With the rest of the outfit so basic, I’d add some colour with a bag or a beaded necklace.
A MATCHING SET. I am a sucker for a matching set. Especially a little linen number. Deiji Studios* is a great starting point for relaxed, beachy sets, or if you want something a bit more polished, I’d head to Faithfull*. This is new-in on NAP, and as a ‘true autumn’, I outwardly gasped at the colour - a beautiful olive sage that would blend well into a wardrobe full of neutrals (again, that’s me!). The beauty of a set is that it’s a ready-made outfit that’s ready to roll; just add in shoes and accessories. But if I were going to break it up, I’d wear the top with these jeans* (I’d go one size up in the top BTW), and the trousers with this top*.
LEAN INTO LINEN. Of the four outfits I’m sharing here, three of them are almost 100% linen, and that’s for good reason. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I made the connection between natural fibres = less sweating, and since then, I haven’t looked back. As someone who is a prime candidate to be a full-time deodorant tester, you’ve got to take these snippets of knowledge and run with it! So, for this outfit, I’m leaning into linen - again - and the only thing touching my body is the elasticated waist of the trousers. In fact, these trousers* are the sleeper hit of this post. They are slightly thicker than other linen trousers I’ve tried, so they hold their shape better and would be great as an office crossover piece. The quality and heft of them is impressive.
A CUTE LITTLE JUMPSUIT. Working with NAP is a dangerous game, let me tell you, because it means I will inevitably try something on that I am desperate to keep, and this time around, it’s this very lovely jumpsuit* (sizing-wise, I’m wearing an M, so it runs true to size). The spaghetti-strap! The wide leg! The fact that it fits like a glove! I could write a dissertation on this thing, but ultimately, jumpsuits are a good style for trouser lovers to seek out in the summer. There’s something about them that feels more seasonal, and more often than not, they are constructed of linen or linen blends, so they are light and breezy. Opt for a wide leg and feel the breeze on your legs for once.
Something for the skirt haters among us - I hope you liked it as much as I enjoyed putting it together, and thank you to the lovely team at NET-A-PORTER for supporting my work. There is something oh-so-satisfying about making those little collages! Want more style ramblings in your inbox? Subscribe!! I post ALL THE TIME. And to the rest of you? Thank you, as always, for being here!

Ohhhhh, I love those green trousers! I live in Italy, where is gets very hot in the long summers, and my legs never see the sun. I live in linen from May until October, and one thing I've learnt is that the better the quality the linen, the better the creases form. Cheap linen concertinas up and looks as though you've slept in it, but good quality linen forms softer creases (hard to describe!) that will kind of change throughout the day - it creases all right, but in a less frumpy way, and is still wearable the next day (most of my wardrobe comes from Not Perfect Linen). I also love really nicely cut cotton pyjamas, which I wear as separates (I have some from Liberty, and John Lewis. When it's hot, you need something with a waft factor, especially when you are going to work on sweaty days, and don't want to look as though you just don't care!
Ok this one is WHY I pay my subscription 😂👏🏻 It hit the spot 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
