MONDAY
Here’s something I think we should do more often - go to the supermarket with our friends. Truly, that’s my ideal evening right there. A little mooch around the shops, a chance to have an uninterrupted conversation and pick up some groceries at the same time? Wonderful. We went post-kids-bedtime, so the aisles were quiet, and we easily whiled away an hour wandering around. Seeing as I spent most of the day doing walking work™️ (using my desk set-up on my treadmill - I can’t get enough of it!), the evening outfit was my true outfit of the day. I wanted to feel like I was basically wearing pyjamas, so soft clothing was on the menu - black car coat + red knitted jumper + grey knitted trousers + black loafers. Black, grey and red is a colour combination I’m really drawn to right now. I know - RED!!?! Let’s chat about that…
TUESDAY
As Catherine noted in the comments of last week’s Wardrobe Diary - ‘A red sweater?! I am shook!’. Me too, Catherine. Me too. Back when I did my colour analysis in February, Jo actually pulled out some red tones as part of my neutral palette. Being a ‘True Autumn’ means that as long as the colour is deep, rich and muted, then it’s going to be something that should, in theory, ‘work’. So when DONNI offered to send me this jumper - one I’d been eyeing up in the grey (obviously!) - I was up for giving it a go. Deep, rich and muted? Tick. It was a colour that didn’t previously exist in my wardrobe, and this was the third day in a row that I wore it. HA. I was up in London for the day for meetings, and seeing as the weather was mild, I wanted to make the most of being able to traipse out sans jacket. I feel like if I were to one day win the lottery; this is the kind of outfit that would greatly benefit from a Hérmes Kelly*. ONE DAY! Seeing as everything was pretty chilled and relaxed, it needed some elevation. Instead, I added a more structured bag than usual and a pair of drop earrings.
