MONDAY
I have to admit that I’m writing the entirety of this post freshly squeezed on a Sunday night, so I’m going to have to cast my mind back to remember what exactly it was that I was dressing for on Monday - *checks diary* - ah, just the classic working from home. I do remember wanting to get a bit more wear from my mid-weight knitwear category this week, as I do find they get a bit neglected, probably because they are folded and out of the way instead of on a hanger. So I grabbed a jumper that I am pretty sure I haven’t even worn yet this year which is nuts because one - it cost me a lot of money, and two - it’s the perfect creamy yellow beige which my colour analysis identified as a key neutral for me. I dialled it up with a nice earring (which I ended up wearing every day this week!), some t-shirt layering and a nice suede loafer.
TUESDAY
Ok, for such a simple outfit why does this one just feel SO GOOD? I’ve tried my best to pick it apart to learn from it, but also I will not hesitate to wear this same combination again. I feel like it’s down to four factors:
This hair jewellery combo. I’m learning that if I’m doing a scraped-back hair moment then a big massive earring is the way forward. Crap hair - good earrings. It feels like a good balance.
The zebra belt. Just having this statement piece peeking through makes all the difference. Without it, I just don’t think this outfit would feel the same.
The oversized, but structured jacket. It’s just something that I’ve been noticing lately, that if something sits on the oversized side of things, then I prefer it to have some structure to it. It helps me to not feel too swamped.
The red-brown leather loafers. These loafers have sat unloved in my wardrobe since I got them last year, but something clicked this week (as you’ll see!). I wore them A TONNE, and I think it’s because I’ve finally leaned into the fact that this brighter tone of brown can work as a pop of colour for me. I also like that it’s not the only brown item - it wouldn’t work as well if the jumper was black.
