MONDAY
We had a good run, but this week the seasonal toddler germs caught up with us so just a quick preface that for the past seven days we’ve been survival-mode. Lemsips, no-childcare and trying to fit Zoom meetings into nap time. Fellow parents, you know the drill. It means that this week leans very into the practical side of things and wasn’t really a week for experimentation, but more for relying on uniforms that I knew worked for me. Mark was the first one of us to succumb so on Monday I took the little man out to fulfil a lifelong dream of riding on the Gatwick Express. Did I ride the train to our local airport, only to change platforms and come all the way home?! Yes, yes I did. Not that you can see it under here, but I vouched to get some more wear out of my cord shirt* this week, so wore this formula: white baby tee + cord shirt + indigo jeans + leather lace-up boots + leather oversized jacket + my usual bag.
TUESDAY
On Tuesday I needed an outfit that was good for working from home and doing some shooting, but also for my evening sewing class, where I knew I’d be cutting my pattern pieces so would probably be on the floor for the a lot of it (SPOILER: I was! And this was the perfect outfit!). You know how sometimes there’s a load of food in your fridge that you just need to cobble together and eat? Well this week felt a bit like that, but wardrobe-wise. My dungarees* are again something that I don’t feel I reach for enough, so I tried to make a new outfit with them. I took the t-shirt I wore the day before, layered a suede shirt over the top to add some texture and interest and then went with my usual boots and earrings. The suede shirt added warmth and bulk, but just felt more exciting and seasonally appropriate than doing my usual linen one. If you’ve got a suede shirt hanging around that you’re using as more of a jacket, give it a go as more of a shirt - it works!
