Weekly Wishlist #5
What my shopping list is looking like after another session with the one, the only - Allison Bornstein...
This week I had another styling session with ALLISON BORNSTEIN! And whilst it was an absolute delight to catch-up, we got on it and created 15 new outfits!! Like how is that even possible in an hour!? And with all the chatting we did too!!?! That woman is a genius let me tell you. I showed her four pieces that I felt a bit bored with in my wardrobe and she came up with some new outfit formulas that I never would have thought of myself. She is the Queen of layering and whilst we played we discovered that there were a few key pieces that I was missing, so this week’s wishlist features the shopping list that she put together for me…
As always free subscribers will be able to preview the first five items from the list and paid subscribers will be able to see the full 10 piece edit every week and have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you will ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up to the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’re going to have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment of that will be in your inbox on Sunday evening. See you then!
Wolford Jersey Turtleneck Top* (I’d order this in an M)
I asked Allison for some new ways to wear my The Only Jane Boilersuit because I’d just been throwing it on with a pair of flip flops and knew that it had more mileage in it than that and she suggested throwing a turtleneck underneath. I’ve owned them before but always worn through them quickly, so she suggested this as a pricey investment, but one in her personal wardrobe that has lasted years and years and will give a few more layering options as we get into the chiller weather.
ARKET Relaxed Poplin Shirt* (I’ve just ordered a 38)
I’m in the market for the *perfect* white skirt and I feel like it could be this!? ARKET always serves me well when it comes to shirts and their slightly oversized, relaxed fit linen shirts were some of my most-worn tops this summer. I feel like we’re entering ‘shirt season’. Soon it will get too cold and knits become mandatory, but for this like month, I think I’ll get the wear out of it. Note how it’s not too long either - that’s where I’ve gone wrong with them in the past. A little material to tuck, but not too much, means that you don’t end up adding too much extra bulk to your outfit.
Reformation Cynthia High Rise Straight Long Jeans* (I would order a 29)
I’m sure we’re all pretty well catered for in the denim department, but if mine is lacking in anything, it’s lacking in a slightly longer straight leg style. Basically a pair to wear with my heeled pointed boots (side note - I wore my Toteme City Boots* for a 10 hour day in London yesterday and they didn’t rub my feet AT ALL!). A lot of my jeans sit on the top of my foot which is great for flats and loafers, but for heeled boots it’s just lengthening for the leg to have something that *just* skims the floor. These look like they could work for that.
Uniqlo 100% Cashmere Crew Neck Jumper* (I’d order this in a M)
A few times during our session Allison said ‘Do you have a camel or brown cashmere knit to go with that?’ and I looked at my jumpers and realised that were basically all black and grey. So I feel like I could do with adding a bit of ‘colour’ into my knitwear stash. Personally I’d head to the men’s section as the sizing will be slightly oversized and the choice of colours is waaaaaay more up my street. I have my eye on this one and the brown and the navy too. I like that there isn’t too much ribbing around the cuffs or neckline. Just really simple.
Sezane Lena Low Boots* (I sit between a 6-7, but tend to go for a 7 in Sezane shoes)
My Dear Frances Tony Boots (now discontinued, the Skye and Shay boots look similar) just DID NOT fit me after pregnancy despite me squashing my feet in them repeatedly. So I eventually passed them onto my friend, but I’m missing having a flat slip-on boot in my wardrobe. They are just so easy to throw on when you’re walking out the door and work as a good all-weather kind of shoe too. I was thinking of repurchasing them in my actual size, but I thought these looked like a fun alternative from Sezane (they are available in just the plain black too). I feel like I’m missing some fun in my wardrobe and some neutral print might be the way to inject it back in.
