Weekly Wardrobe #12
The patterned coat that I've worn all week, a loungewear set I'll wear all winter and a look at my favourite looks of 2023...
MONDAY
Are these Mary-Janes extremely uncomfortable!? Yes!! But bizarrely only on my left foot and I WILL NOT LET IT STOP ME!!! Annoyingly they are exactly the kind of shoe that I need in my wardrobe - a soft square (which is my preferred choice of toe shape when it comes to footwear) and a nod to the ballet flat trend, but a little more structured. They go with everything, but add that ‘polished’ feel to the look - like imagine this outfit, but with Converse. Sure it would work, but it would have a completely different feel! You know the deal with Mondays by now - swimming with R and working from home - so I layered up under the knit so I could strip off when I was poolside, and then threw on some cosy socks when I got home. It worked, I felt great - that’s all you need out of your outfit.
TUESDAY
Sometimes when I mention that Mark and I work together people are surprised and I’ve realised that I don’t really mention it much online. In fact we worked together for a whole year before I ever said anything! It was nice to test it out for a bit just incase it didn’t work out, but spoiler - it did and it still does! I think we’ve been working together for five years now and he edits all the things - be it photos or videos - Mark is THE MAN! How we work together has shifted throughout the years, and especially since Ralph has come along, but we’re starting our new year’s resolution a little early just to get ahead and it’s to go back to our start-of-the-week meetings. Tuesday was so lovely and sunny so it was nice to get out early and have a little tête-à-tête and plan out the week ahead.
I kept it simple, but this feels like a formula that could work for a whole host of activities - from errands to casual WFH days - cable knit + oversized jeans + Mary-Janes + wool coat + tote bag.
This outfit is sadly not what I wore on Tuesday, but we did shoot it for a Selfridges job and I knew I would like this jumpsuit*, but DAMN I *LOVE* it. It does up via a zip on the front - oh la la! - but I just see that as a very practical move! Much easier to pop to the loo without the need of someone else to zip you back in! There’s a lot of length to it, so if you’re any shorter than me then it might be something that you’d need to get hemmed, but I like that there’s that option because in my eyes a jumpsuit leg should always hit the floor. And it’s SO stretchy! Like stretchy, but still holds you in - you know?! I’m completely obsessed. I just had to mention it here too incase you’re in the market for a firecracker of a festive party outfit.
