The Weekly Wishlist: The Undone/Polished Balance
Dressing for the heat in a way that feels elevated but relaxed at the same time...
This week’s newsletter includes:
Three pairs of summer sandals (with padded soles - V.IMPORTANT!), linen trousers that fit nicely around the butt and the pendant to buy if you’re a gold girl 4EVER.
The Substacks I’ve saved this week, including the one with all the good outfit formulas and the YouTube channel you’ve been searching for.
How my colour analysis stopped me from making a silly purchase this week.
Four outfits I’ve screengrabbed and how I’ve interpreted them with my own wardrobe, plus why Allison Bornstein’s ‘Chic Desert Aunt’ is such a good vibe to keep in mind.
…and ‘What’s On My Wishlist’ makes its return.
Free subscribers will be able to preview the first three items from the list, and paid subscribers will be able to see the full six-piece edit every week, along with the rest of my style digest (think screengrabs, recreations, my favourite reads and a peek at my Notion wish list). Paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary, which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you with ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. Plus a monthly style clinic where you can send me your wardrobe woes for me to solve. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up for the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’ll have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment will be in your inbox on Sunday evening/early Monday morning. See you then!
Every now and again, this image of Laura Harrier floats into my mind and for the 1789th time, I begin my search for the perfect cream tank dress (this one* and this one* feel similar, but still don’t have the right neckline and realistically how much would I wear a white silk dress?). I’m never fruitful in my search, but perhaps I’ve been looking for the wrong thing all this time. A black scoop-neck mini dress would be a far better fit in my wardrobe, and this 100% cotton one is under £60. I’d throw it on with a brown Dragon Diffusion bag and a chunky sandal.
& Other Stories Large Suede Shoulder Bag*
I was eyeing this up the other day but didn’t include it because it had silver hardware, which I just don’t vibe with. However, I just checked back on it today, and the hardware has magically turned gold!? HOORAY! So, it’s passed my test, and I am sharing it with you. I’m struggling a bit with my suede bag at the moment because it’s just so *slouchy*, and I feel like it is quite a chill and relaxed fabric; having it in a more structured form gives it a little more balance. This feels like the bag you could throw on with an all-black outfit to add texture and still feel CHIC AS HELL.
Reformation Bess Linen Top* (I’d order this in a M)
I’m working on a piece about tops bigger than this, but I echo the comments I often see - WHERE ARE ALL THE TOPS?! Not t-shirts, shirts, or tanks - nothing else exists except those and waistcoats - which I love, of course - but sometimes you want to mix it up. I’ll pop up an edit soon, but I found this shirt/blouse/jacket hybrid in the meantime. 100% linen, so you shouldn’t boil it in too much, and it feels vintage without feeling too frilly, which I know so many of us aren’t huge fans of. I love how it’s styled here and would do the same with just a straight-leg mid-wash denim and flip-flops.
