The Weekly Wishlist: The Practical Edit
The workout gear I've had for years and a dressing gown I can't stop thinking about...
It’s completely unintentional, but this week’s wishlist has quite the practical vibe. My ‘New Year’ juice has finally kicked in and I’m in full on planning mode and Substack is a bit of a reflection on that. Planning aside, I’ve still been screengrabbing and reading away, so here’s what’s included in this week’s newsletter…
A very practical wishlist - including my workout kit and top workouts, a WFH combo and the dressing gown that I’m very tempted by.
What’s new in my wardrobe this week (spoiler: a VERY cosy jumper).
The outfits I’ve screengrabbed this week.
If you’re going to read one Substack post - make it this one.
What’s on my ‘DO NOT BUY’ list.
…and an update on my Notion wishlist.
Free subscribers will be able to preview the first three items from the list and paid subscribers will be able to see the full six piece edit every week, along with the rest of my style digest (think screengrabs, recreations, my favourite reads and a peek at my Notion wish list). Paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you will ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up to the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’re going to have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment of that will be in your inbox on Sunday evening/early Monday morning. See you then!
Sezane Ciara Trousers* (I’d order these in a 12)
I can’t be the only one who is *slightly* tempted by the High Sport Hick Flare Pants*. It feels like a bit of secret Substack club, an IYKYK kinda thing. Before I dug into my reading list on here, I had not a clue what they were! They are a bit of a legging/trouser hybrid, come in a load of colours and do the whole ‘dress up, dress down’ thing really well (Ali Pew’s newsletter had me *this close* to adding the brown version to my wish list). However they have a £700+ price tag in the U.K and I’m just not sure I’d ever be able to justify that amount on trousers unless I literally didn’t buy anything for months?! I mean never say never! Dupes are everywhere and when I spotted these on the Sezane site they felt like a similar vibe - anyone given them a go? They are under £100, and a mostly-cotton blend, so I thought it was worth a share. I’ve also got an upcoming job with Sezane to shoot and this knitted beige vest* was one of my picks that I’m excited to shoot. Thought I’d give you a heads up here as their stock tends to shift fast!
& Daughter Rookska Lambswool Crew Neck* (I’d order this in a M)
Have you seen this brand & Daughter knocking around!? I had seen a few of my favourites wearing it, but hadn't heard much about the brand before - just noted that they did some really lovely knitwear. Turns out that all their wool and cashmere is spun and made in the U.K and Ireland - how great is that?! Read more about it here. Their sale is pretty cracking too - lots of everyday staples included - like this jumper. Just one of those brands to have on your radar next time you’re looking to expand your knitwear collection. I’d talk you through how I’d style this jumper, but honestly there isn’t much I couldn’t wear it with.
I’ve been finding myself screenshooting a lot of photos that feature big, chunky, vintage-looking jewellery and then I remembered this collab that one of my favourite secondhand places, Retold Vintage, did with The Nines and TA-DAH. It was just what I’m looking for! Stock is always coming in, so I’ve kept it bookmarked, but if a big chunky hoop comes in then I’m going to be first in line. Charleen has such an eye for pieces that are sleek and feel modern, but with a nod to the past. Obsessed.
