This newsletter includes:
The working-from-home trousers that I ended up buying, a pair of skinny jeans that I’d happily wear again, and the high-street shirts that I’m stocking up on.
Three satisfying posts I’ve saved this week that will help you spot quality, aid with packing, and make you yearn to outfit repeat.
The autumn colour palette that always works, and a quick 10-minute tip to try if you’re feeling overwhelmed with your wardrobe.
An exclusive video for paid subs featuring autumn outfit recreations that you can wear right now and a look at how my wishlist is shaping up.
Free subscribers will be able to preview the first three items from the list, and paid subscribers will be able to see the full six-piece edit every week, along with the rest of my style digest (think screengrabs, recreations, my favourite reads and a peek at my Notion wish list). Paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary, which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you with ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. Plus a monthly style clinic where you can send me your wardrobe woes for me to solve. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up for the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’ll have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment will be in your inbox on Sunday evening/early Monday morning. See you then!
Alex Mill Chiltern Waxed Jacket*, Camden Pant in Corduroy* & Kristen Ribbed Cardigan*
Alex Mill is one of those brands that I’d never heard of until I tapped into Substack. For fellow Brits who also might be new to the brand, it’s a bit like if Everlane and Uniqlo had a baby, with a bit of Aligne thrown in. It mainly consists of practical basics - the pieces you actually end up wearing every day. I wrongly assumed that shipping would cost a bomb, but I’ve done some digging, and shipping is free on orders over £200 and taxes and duties are included (the only snag is they don’t currently accept international returns, so do your research on fit!). I only went on the website this week to take a look and easily could have racked up a hefty basket. Here’s what I would have added. Those chocolate cords? YES PLEASE.
Negative Underwear Whipped Non-Wire Bra* (I’d order a size 2)
Alyssa Wasko Stein, the Founder and Designer at DONNI, is a great follow on Instagram, and she did a Q&A the other day where she cited this style of bra as her favourite. I’ve already purchased up some really massive pants from this brand* and LOVE THEM. I bought them to wear under dresses and skirts, and they have turned out to be a great pair of nighttime knickers and the ones I reach for when I’m bloated and feeling grim. So, I was immediately on the Negative Underwear site when I saw her post about these. I’m still sitting on the fence because they aren’t the cheapest, but if anyone else has any words of encouragement, then I’ll take that as a sign to make a buy.
DISSH Sophia Knit Tunic Top*, Julie Tailored Skort* & Levi Marble Knit Cardigan*
This is your PSA that DISSH finally has a U.K warehouse, meaning you no longer need to pay duties and taxes on any purchases. HOORAY! Although it does read as more of a summer brand to me (and being Australian means that they are now really leaning into summer), they’ve done a good job of sprinkling in a few knits here and there for us, and I’m pleased that they’ve expanded their skort offering* because the skort I have from them is one of my best DISSH buys (short + skirt = you aren’t flashing your pants every time you bend over!!). My dream September outfit is a little pair of square-toe ballet flats, a chunky knit and a mini skort.
