The Weekly Wishlist: Clothes For Hibernation Season
Plus ways to wear your trench coat all week long…
This newsletter includes:
The boots that you’ll wear season after season (tried and tested!), a going out top that won’t break the bank, a jacket that gives a KHAITE feel for less than £60 and a matching set that’s your new working-from-home uniform.
Two Substacks to read this week (I was featured in my favourite Substack series!!) and the one wardrobe maintenance tool you NEED for winter.
The search for house slippers that give a little ‘slippers you’d buy your Dad for Christmas’, with a bit of The Row thrown in.
Plus, this week’s newsletter-exclusive video that’s all about trench coats and how I’m styling them for autumn.
Free subscribers will be able to preview the first three items from the list, and paid subscribers will be able to see the full six-piece edit every week, along with the rest of my style digest (think screengrabs, recreations, my favourite reads and a peek at my Notion wish list). Paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary, which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you with ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. Plus a monthly style clinic where you can send me your wardrobe woes for me to solve. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up for the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’ll have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment will be in your inbox on Sunday evening/early Monday morning. See you then!
ALIGNE Satin Long Waistcoat* & Miso Straight Leg Jeans in Leopard Print*
The clever team at Aligne have bought out their best-selling Leo Waistcoat* in a satin version for the festive season, which just makes sense. A little sheen just adds a bit of festive sprinkle to a classic silhouette, and I can imagine wearing it with a pair of vintage-looking jeans and a square-toed or strappy heel for an evening look or just with knitted wide-leg trousers for a dinner in with friends. Another good buy for the party season that feels like something you’d get a decent cost-per-wear from is their best-selling Miso denim style in a leopard print. I love the simplicity of an ‘out there’ trouser choice with a plain black or grey cashmere jumper and loafers.
J.Crew Brushed Cashmere Fitted Cardigan* (ad - gifted, I’m wearing a M)
Having exhausted all standard cashmere avenues, I’ve turned down a new one - brushed cashmere. In fairness, I get a lot of wear out of my cashmere crew necks, especially my grey ones, and this brushed texture adds a little ease and texture to more polished and put-together pieces. I’d been eyeing up this V-neck version*, but then the team at J.Crew sent me this cardigan (THANK YOU!), and I’m so pleased they did because, actually, it’s that high-low balance I need more of in my wardrobe; a very lady-like shape in a fun finish.
UNIQLO Washable Ribbed-Knit Trousers* (I’d order a M)
There were some great recommendations under last week’s Wishlist post, where I showed how I could basically live in my DONNI trousers* all week long. I asked if anyone knew of a dupe, and these were mentioned a few times. So I popped into Uniqlo yesterday, and I have to say they are LUSH. A little heavier and more jiggly (!?!) than the DONNI ones which are a much lighter fabric and have more drape, but the UNIQLO version are so darn soft and have the option for a matching top too*. Cosy evening in perfection.
