I’ve kept a digital wardrobe for 435 days. Yes I am also a Virgo, before you ask. I first started in the summer of 2022, lost it for a few months, picked it up on the 1st January last year for one of my resolutions and have stuck with it ever since. Nowadays it’s just something that I do without really thinking. When something new comes into my wardrobe I log it as an item. If I sell something then it gets deleted. And everyday I open my app and log whatever outfit I’m wearing. I means that my wardrobe (both physically and digitally) remains a very organised place and puts me in the best position to love my outfit everyday.
Previously I was logging everything in Whering, but over the Christmas break I downloaded the Indyx app and have recently moved everything over to that platform (mainly because it’s an app that aesthetically is much more inline with my wardrobe = a better browsing experience, has more of the functions that I’m looking for, plus I can do cool things like share my wardrobe with you - both apps are free by the way).
Why do it in the first place?
I guess there are a few reasons…
One - you’re a Type A personality and you don’t even need to read the rest of this list to be convinced.
Two - it’s a good way to see what you’re wearing (and what you’re not!). It can help you spot gaps in your wardrobe, repeats that you definitely do NOT need to buy again and inform you on your own personal style patterns.
But aside from the data it can provide you with, I’ve found it most helpful for scratching that shopping itch. Not only does it make for a satisfying scrolling experience, it means I spend more time ‘in’ my wardrobe even when I’m not. A train journey to London making outfits with RHONY playing in the background is my version of heaven.
And as someone who grew up with one of these, a wardrobe app is basically my childhood dreams come true…
