MONDAY
I’ve realised that in order for me to feel right in a button down it has to be one of two things. Either drapey in fabrication, so basically silk. I’ve always enjoyed a silk shirt number. Or, if it’s cotton or linen, then it needs to be oversized and preferably warm enough to roll the sleeves up. That’s the beauty of documenting your outfit every day like this (even if you don’t turn it into a Substack!); you notice little quirks like this, of styling signatures that you enjoy and that you don’t. So I leant into the latter. Big shirt, sleeves rolled, buttons undone to bra height. Basically, every other outfit this week includes some time of wide-leg trousers, but on Monday, I fancied a slimmer leg, so I went for this straight-leg silhouette. It was nothing earth-shattering, but it was just a nice clean and simple look that I felt super comfortable working from home in.
TUESDAY
LONG LIVE JUMPER, JEANS AND SANDALS SEASON! I love everything about this outfit and would happily repeat it day in and day out. The outfit itself is pretty basic, but each individual element is the best in its class:
Grey cashmere jumper. I often wonder what would happen if I accidentally shrank this because I love it so much. The colour is just right—I love the deep grey.
Wide-leg white jeans. Although oversized, these jeans still fit nicely around the waist and don’t make me feel like I’m wearing a nappy.
Suede sandals. The Bari sandals are back and have entered the chat. Flip-flop haters rejoice!!! I think flip-flops only featured once in last week’s outfits—it’s a record! Not only are these sandals ludicrously comfortable, but they are utterly chic looking, too.
Rope bag. In the summer you’ve got to lean into your textured bag. THOSE are the outfit makers right there.
