A New Kind of 'Weekly Wishlist'
A way of delivering a style digest that's hopefully a little more mindful...
Although I’ve been posting up a storm on Substack over the Christmas break, it’s been a while since I checked in with my usual scheduled programming. So it’s Friday and that means it’s time for a ‘Weekly Wishlist’. What that would usually entail is an edit of 10 things that I’ve seen online that week that I’d deem worthy enough for a spot in your wardrobe. However I’m trying to be a bit more mindful about what I share online in 2024, so I’m going to shake things up a little.
I’ve sat on it for a few weeks and what I’d like this post to be is more of a style moodboard of the week. I’m not going to scrap the wishlist completely as some of the feedback I received was that you actually enjoy these edits - I put in the scrolling so you don’t have to! And if I find something that aligns with an item that’s on your wish list then it’s happy days! And I am more than happy to provide that service for you, so they’ll still be 6 pieces that have caught my eye that I’ll be sharing (3 for free subscribers and the full list of 6 for those that are paid subs). But for paid subscribers I’ll also be adding a sort of style digest - think things I’ve read, an outfit formula I’ve tried and loved (or not!), things that have made me think about my wardrobe differently, or encouraged me to dig something out.
For example this is what’s included this week…
A chat about ‘the chat’.
The free newsletter that gives me all the outfit ideas.
The two times I’ve managed to de-influence myself this week.
…and the two outfit makers that put in the work over the Xmas break.
A screengrab that lead to a late-Dec Vinted purchase.
How my style wish list is looking on Notion (I feel like this will be something that I add in weekly!)
Free subscribers will be able to preview the first three items from the list and paid subscribers will be able to see the full six piece edit every week, along with the rest of my style digest (think screengrabs, recreations, my favourite reads and a peek at my Notion wish list). Paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to my Weekly Wardrobe Diary which will detail every single thing I’ve worn in the week prior and hopefully arm you will ALL THE OUTFIT INSPO. A subscription works out at £1.15 per week if you sign up to the monthly plan - see it as a wardrobe investment because you’re going to have outfit formulas by the bucketload. The next instalment of that will be in your inbox on Sunday evening/early Monday morning. See you then!
Dear Frances Park Boots & COS Round-Neck Coat* (I wear it in a S)
Looking back at my Whering app for the past few weeks, I’ve worn these two items most days. I’ve spoken about these boots a 1678 times before and I think they’ve been in my wardrobe for over three years now, but they are just so comfortable. And sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for. The same goes for the coat. It’s a newer addition to my wardrobe but it provides that comfort and practicality whilst also making me feel rather chic. These are my two cold weather go-tos right now. Another thing I wore a tonne? The Uniqlo Cashmere Jumpers* which are currently £10 off in the sale. Not a huge discount, but these are the kind of style that you’d have for years and despite the low price point I haven’t noticed bobbling on any that I own.
Reformation Cary High Rise Slouchy Wide Leg Jeans*
These are in the new-in section - has anyone tried them yet? I’ve included them because I feel like 2024 will be the year of the wide-leg jean and for many of us it’s still newer territory. If you’ve been eying up the AGOLDE Dame Jeans*, these feel like a similar fit for half the price, just without the turn-up at the bottom. I really enjoy wearing mine in any way that I’d usually wear straight leg jeans but the volume switches up the silhouette and makes it feel less casual to me. Just imagine these in the summer too with a tank and flip-flops. I feel like they have mileage for me.
ARKET Soft French Terry Sweatshirt* and Sweatpants* (I wear a M in the top and a S in the bottoms - they are VERY oversized)
I’ve toyed with buying my favourite tracksuit in black for a while now and over Christmas I took the plunge - it means that I’ll now own this tracksuit in the grey, brown and black and you know what? I KNOW that it’s a good buy for me. They are the only pyjamas that I wear during winter, and I love them for slow lounging weekends and occasionally I’ll wear them as separates out of the house. Two Substacks that I love find cool ways to dissect tracksuits into everyday wear - The Rough Draft and Hey Mrs Solomon - so I have some ideas thanks to them. Bizarrely I’ve never owned a black tracksuit and it seems like a bit of an essential and I know that I love the weight and the fit of this one, so it was a no brainer.
